The Rainy Day Band
The Rainy Day Band performs early jazz, blues and popular music, with an extensive repertoire of songs from the 1890s through the 1930s. Vocals & alto saxophone (or mandolin), guitar and bass saxophone form the trio at the band's heart. James McClaskey & Annabelle Zakaluk share vocal duties, singing along or together in classic close harmony. This lineup is augmented by violin, trombone, piano, drums & tenor banjo for larger performances.
The band was formed as a busking ensemble and continues to hone their music with regular performances on Royal Street. Find the band busking in the French Quarter during the weekend, or check the calendar for upcoming gigs.
